What Bee Did: An Explanation

me in the sun

Where have I been, all your liii-iiives?! Couldn't resist, sorry! I had no intention of abandoning Little V but as ever, life got in the bloody way again! What with my illness, my uncle's situation, personal issues and complete lack of the internet, things have been a little fraught. With all this in mind, I thought I'd just waffle on for a while about what I've been doing and pray it doesn't put you all in a coma. Does that sound okay?!

Sofa ridden with a second mouthful of ulcers, I've found myself eating through books as if they're going out of fashion. When I read, I read! I've read three books in as many days and I've, surprisingly, enjoyed all of them. Everyone always seems to ask me about books, being an English undergrad and all, so I may give you a mini review of them all. Thoughts?! I'll get it up ASAP. If I'm perfectly honest, I haven't had a good reading session like that in so long; for some reason, reading seems a lot less appealing when I've got piles of it to do for university. Please leave your book suggestions for me in the comments! Onto more pressing matters, my uncle is in a much better state. Whilst I've been away, we did have a bit of a scare, leaving me in charge of the fort and family-less. However, we've now been told that, with chemo, he'll have at least six months. That, in itself, is an absolute godsend. I'm off to Scotland to see him in under two weeks and I cannot wait. He's an inspiration to all. Thank you to everyone who has put up with my worrying/incessant weeping. It means a lot to me and my family.

My diary is relatively busy these next few days - thank the lord. I'm having a movie and takeaway pizza night with Luke tonight before heading out for a road trip with my Fatherbear (and his white boy Bob Marley singsongs) to see my Grandma in Reading. She's not well (yeah, none of my family are ever quite 100%) so I'm hoping it'll cheer her up! By 'not well' I mean 'she's not allowed to move in order to save her foot'...Sometimes I wander whether old age is really worth it :/ On Tuesday, the whole world is ending. Well, by 'whole' I mean mine and by 'world ending', I mean my teenage years. I've suddenly turned into one of those women who despises the thought of their own age. I'm not sure I'm ready for my 20's but I'm relatively moved all the while. It seems crazy that the zoo trip was a year ago now! I'm not doing much for my birthday this year what with all the things going on but I'm hoping to get the family out for Indian food. I'm sure I'll post about my birthday next week!

What else?! I'm hopefully going to be around more soon because I'll have a bit more access to the net/enthusiasm now that my ulcers seem to have subsided for a while. I've now got the internet at my Grandma's house so I should be able to return to normal ASAP. I've missed the blogosphere so I'm going to bookmark a day next week to tackle everything blog related and slog through my emails (read: watch YT videos). Anyway, I'm off to enjoy greasy takeaway pizza, movies and my ever-understanding boyfriend. Thanks for reading - let me know what you've been up to in the comments! I'll be back sooooooon

What Bee Did: Disposable Photographs

disposable photograph onedisposable photograph fivedisposable photograph sevendisposable photograph fourdisposable photograph twodisposable photograph threedisposable photograph eightdisposable photograph six

Hello everyone! As you may or may not know, I'm quite the fan of disposable photographs. I can rarely be found without a disposable camera hanging around the bottom of my tote bag and I'm a strong believer that they capture some of the funniest/spontaneously strange moments in life! For me, there's a sort of crazed excitement about picking up a set of photographs after they've been developed so you can imagine how on edge I was when I picked up these ones which span a couple of months. Here's just a selection of the photographs, from Luke's and I's various adventures lately. I'm in dire need of a new photograph album to contain these pretties. My scanner has taken the colour out of some of the photographs but hey ho, that's disposables!

If you follow me on Twitter (if you don't, why not?!), you'll know that mouth/tongue ulcers have been the bane of my life recently. Sorry for my incessant moaning! I'm now on my fourth day of cupasoups and none solids and I can't say I'm loving it. The doctor has given me this paste that is sort of like filling your mouth with sandy cementy glue. Oh, life. Hopefully, I'll get a bit better soon and then I can fully enjoy food/life again! I hope you're all well and doing a little bit better than me.

I hope you've liked peeking into my latest set of photographs. Are you a fan of disposable cameras? What's the best/funniest disposable photograph you've got developed? Link me to your disposable posts! I'm off to indulge in a cupasoup (ha!) and do a spot of catsitting!

What Bee Did: When Bee Got A Fringe

P1010025P1010027P1010040P1010041

Stupid expressions, Model's Own.
By the way, I'm quite aware that I look like a tool - it's a skill that I've perfected over the years

Hello everyone! Before I begin today's nonsensical ramble, I'd like to say a massive thank you for everyone's kindness and words of encouragement. You are all invaluable, whether you realise it or not. I haven't been around here for a while because I've been looking out for loved ones and the thought of trying to write a blog post with my Grandma's dial-up internet fills me with dread.

In order to start back lightly, I thought I'd take a moment to show you all my new hairstyle! I've had it for a few weeks now so I've been riddled with bad fringe days and moments of despair but, on the whole, I rather like it. For those that can't see a difference (you blind?!) I've had three different highlights put through my hair and I've had a marvellously chunky fringe put in. For the Americans amongst you, I obviously mean I've got bangs (FYI, I love the word 'bangs'). I think my hairdresser was tempted to smack me with the hairdryer the amount of times I stressed that it had to be chunky; I ain't wanting no fringe split issues! I've finally got used to having a fringe again, believe it or not this actually was my staple hairstyle for the first 7-8 years of my life. Anyway, I'm going to keep this short and sweet.

Thanks for reading this post! Let me know what you think in the comments below. What do you think of le fringe? What's been your favourite hairstyle that you've ever rocked?...and feel free to tell me your worst ;) I'm spending the next couple of days at Luke's re-cooperating, answering emails and just getting things sorted! I'll be back very soon

Snapshots From Home: A Little Peek Into Bee's Room

cushionsperfume neombedsidefrilly lightteacupjournalslush perfumelipsroom

Hello everyone! I've never really done anything like this before but seeing as I'm in a new room I thought, hey why not?! Plus, I thought that this would sate my stalker's hunger. I joke, please don't stalk me! If you don't already know, I currently live/am staying with my Grandma and I adore it. Honestly, grandparents say/do/are the funniest things. With this in mind, none of the décor is mine but I tend to quite like it anyway! There's actually not a lot of space in this room thanks to my killer kingsize bed but I've got round it because grandparents seem to have about a billion secret cupboards/storage cubby holes in their houses; if you're ever bored, ransack your grandparents and prepare to be amazed by their cupboard space!

Onto another note, if you follow me on Twitter you'll probably though know that, as a family, we've been having a bit of a tough time. Devastatingly,  a close family member has been diagnosed with advanced brain cancer and, at the age of 57, has been told how long he has left to live. When I read it back on screen, I can't quite believe it nor take in what it really means for him and my family. None of you will know him but I can tell you that he's one of the most inspiring people I've ever met; he's achieved so much and is forever looking out for the people in his heart. He's taught me to be confident, work towards my dreams and never give up. We are due to go up and stay with him in a few weeks and I cannot wait to see him and just enjoy every waking second with him. This has taught me that you should do all the things you want to do, see everything you wish to see and never let anything stop you from enjoying life. I'll be sharing my 'bucket list' with you all soon and I strongly suggest you all write one too and start living. Thank you for listening/reading/just being here right now.

I hope this post has somehow been enlightening and has helped you to picture more about me! If you'd like to know more about a certain aspect then please feel free to let me know in the comments box. Have you done a room tour? What things in your room make it feel like 'home'? I'm going to spend some time cheering my Grandma up

Bee's Beauty Essentials: L'Occitane Amande Shower Oil

*Sorry if you were expecting a photograph of me lathered in body oil
L'occitane Amande Shower Oil 250ml via Feel Unique, £16.99

Hello everyone! Today I thought I'd share a mini beauty orientated post with you all. My 'beauty essentials' feature discusses products that I've loved/products that I've thought would be essentials but didn't actually hit the mark. This week I'm looking at a product I've had for a couple of months now, it's L'occitane's Amande Shower Oil. Usually, I wouldn't spend more than a tenner on a bathroom product but: 1. The French name kind of swept me away 2. It smells like bakewell tarts, for gods sake 3. I've wanted to try out body oils and this seemed like the most unperverted way of doing so.

At first, I was a little bit weirded out at the sensation of an oil on my skin but as I persevered and buffed it in a little, I found that it worked into a really nice lather. The one thing that drew me in to this product initially was its almond scent. I don't know about you, but I love me a bit of bakewell! For me, the scent could be a little stronger because I think that as you lather it in it becomes quite faint and bland; this could just be me wanting to smell entirely like cake, though! Having said all this, my skin felt incredibly smooth after using this body oil and, therefore, I believe it's worth the money. Would I repurchase? Probably but, for now, I've got quite a few other products I need to use up! Overall, I like this product and I'll definitely be using it all up! I'd give it 4 out of 5

I hope this mini post has been of interest to you!  If you're struggling to find bliss in this horrendous weather, why not check out my post on my new serenity candle HEREHave you tried any L'Occitane products? How do you feel about body oils? I'm off to watch some vlogs and settle down with a film or two. I'll be back soon with some snaps of my new barnet

How to Relax: Neom 'Serenity' Candle

NEOM serenity candle beauty aromatherapy blog ukcandle serenity review NEOM summer gift ideascandle box review gift ideas present women uk blogcandle gift ideas serenity NEOM review blog ukneom candle review serenity scent pretty giftNEOM candle review serenity beauty gift idea

Serenity. A word that encompasses itself, evoking thoughts of docile summer evenings and those days where you are so laid back, or 'so can't be arsed', that you're practically horizontal. Whether you live in a bustling city or inhabit the shire, I believe this little candle could take you to that 'quiet place' that, prior to this beauty, was resigned to naughty children, the elderly and parents on the brink of breakdown. (I'd just like to point out that my Mamabear was never that bad but she did like to play that hypothetical 'One day I'm going to get in the car and never come back' thing when Little Cub and I were driving her insane. Oh, motherhood).

Before NEOM, for me, candles were mainly dragged out at Christmas and power cuts. Thankfully, I can say that those days are behind me. The 'serenity' candle boasts notes of vanilla and sandalwood but to me it smells distinctly like a zesty chocolate orange; I have a nose for this sort of thing, clearly. If you're forever jonesing for a vanilla-infused chocolate orange then this little beauty is for you; I wouldn't necessarily promote attempting to eat the candle wax though. It's also rather important to me that the candle is made from natural substances, so there's no nasties going to get inhaled here. Can I get a 'HELL YEAH' from all my fellow asthmatics?!

This candle is great for shutting yourself away in a room and delving into a good book with only the candle, and an optional array of snacks, for company. I'm definitely never going to be stuck for gift ideas for mothers, grandmothers, in-laws and sisters ever again! I'm definitely going to be purchasing their body scrub and bath oils in the very near future. Have you tried anything from NEOM? I'm off to spend some quality time with my better half! We are off to the italian tonight, if we don't get flooded

My beautiful sister and I on prom night! 5. My gorgeous little bear, Charles. Yes, he's overweight. 6. Grandma won't stop feeding me 7. Rainy walk with 'the in laws' 8. I've been stalking this gorgeous little cat that likes to visit my Grandma's garden, much to her unamusement 9. Walking in the pissing down rain with Luke 10. My beautiful sister and her boyfriend looking dapper at prom 11. Luke being his usual cool self

Hello everyone! It probably escaped anyone's notice but I've been absent from the internet for about a week following a bout of borederline horrific news. Whilst this news hasn't gone away, I'm trying to stay positive for my loved ones and have fully come to terms with the idea that I should really live life to the full. I need to see all the things I wish to see, do all the things I wish to do and stop worrying about the little things. I also need to let everyone who means something to me know just how much they have a positive influence on my life. So, you lovely lot, I just want to say from the bottom of my heart...thank you. Yes, it's soppy but you have no idea how each single one of you who reads my goings on means to me and inspires me to be the best that I can be. #soppyspeechover

My hair no longer looks like the above photograph. I took the plunge and got more blonde highlights put through and a killer fringe. My inspiration was this year's winner of Eurovision; I'm a classy bird, me. Apparently, I look like a cross between my sister and Claudia Schiffer. I'll be sure to keep some photographs of it and put them up in due course. As you can see, I've spent the week keeping to myself, heading out for walks and just taking care of myself a bit more. I'm wearing a pedometer wherever I go and I'm drinking up to 8 glasses of water a day. I know, I've surprised myself! I'm really wanting to go back to my swimming classes but one of my close male friends is the lifeguard and there's no way in hell I want to parade my thunder thighs around in front of anyone I even faintly recognise. Oh, woe is me.

I'm off to spend the rest of my day bonding with my Mamabear and attempting to get more then mumbles out of my sister, what the hell is it with teenage girls?! I'll be back soon, I promise! What have you been up to lately? Any jubilee plans? Any posts I should check out?
